Hana Wang
Hi everyone! My name is Hana Wang and I’m nominating myself as the Games Officer for the Poker Society! I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Data Science at the University of Bristol and am now studying a Master’s in Health Data Analytics and Machine Learning. During my time at Bristol, I served as President of the Taiwanese Society and an officer of the CSSA, where I helped organise events and build a welcoming community.
Over the past two years, I’ve played in home games at different levels and gained experience in both online and in-person tournaments, including at the casino in Bristol. These experiences have helped me understand different playing styles and made me realise how poker can bring people together — whether it’s a casual game or a competitive one. I’ve always loved poker because it’s a game that perfectly combines strategy, logic, and mathematics — all things that also drive my academic interests.
As a female player, I’d love to encourage more women to join and experience the excitement, focus, and confidence that poker brings. If elected, I’ll make our society more vibrant by:
-
Introducing a ranking system to track progress and friendly competition.
-
Hosting games at different levels and fun tournaments that keep members engaged.
-
Organising “Pub & Hustler Night” watch-togethers, where we can relax, socialise, and learn from pros in a casual setting.
I want the Poker Society to be more than just a place to play — a community where everyone feels welcome and inspired.
