Hii! I'm Oscar and I'm running for Campaigns officer for the LGBTQ+ LCO this year.

You may have seen my work covering trans rights for Felix, for example in the article "Imperial removes “legal framework” for supporting trans students from policies" and so I'm already quite in touch with the issues for queer folks at Imperial both at personal and policy level.

As Campaigns Officer, I want to work on making spaces safer and more comfortable for queer people here. I want to do that by further engaging with IQ, I600, and the LGBTQ+ network as well as pushing Imperial to speed up the rollout of gender neutral bathrooms.

Currently, Imperial is committed to all new bathrooms being gender neutral, but there are still only a few locations on south ken that some trans folk feel comfortable using.

I also believe LGBTQ+ rights intersect fundamentally with other social justice issues and so we should ensure that across our campaigns we are united under one tent. At Imperial I think the big problem with this is not disagreement, but lack of communication, and I want to bring communities together to address that.

I have experience running campaigns, including helping organise Imperial Climate Action and Plant Based Universities Imperial, which successfully passed a controversial motion through the Union Council.
