Hi, I’m Adithi, an international student from Singapore and a 2nd-year Chemistry undergraduate.
As the International Community Engagement Officer, I hope to foster a strong sense of camaraderie and connection among international students. I often see students naturally gravitate towards their own cultural groups, which is great for staying connected to home, but in doing so, they can miss opportunities to meet other international students who are going through similar experiences.
Believe me, I’ve been there. Many of us struggle with self-doubt about moving away from home, comparing ourselves to local students, and trying to redefine what home means while finding our footing in a completely new country. This is why building a supportive, tightly-knit international community is more important than ever.
To achieve this, I plan to:
- Coordinate with cultural societies to organize social events where students can meet, share traditions, and, most importantly, enjoy each other’s food.
- Facilitate talks and discussion forums where new students can learn practical tips and advice about living in London from senior international students.
- Organize London tours at the start of each term to help students explore the city, experience its culture, and feel more at home.
- Connect with international alumni to share their experiences and offer guidance on careers and opportunities for international students.
