Hi everyone! My name is Adeshola Amaka, and I am a first-year EFDS student, hoping to serve as your academic representative and help realise your visions for the Business School. I aim to ensure that no student is left behind, no complaint is unaddressed, and most importantly, to help you succeed using 3 goals:
- Maximising efficiency in tutorials – problem sets should be reviewed fully during a tutorial, or otherwise should be uploaded, with a recorded explanation, to help you fully understand the concepts, and guarantee that the education you’re paying thousands of pounds for is not compromised.
- Implementing consistent feedback between your lecturers and you – with the help of Menti, feedback can be given at the end of each lecture, allowing for your voice to be heard while preserving your anonymity. Whether you feel the lecture is too fast or too slow, or that the short deadlines are interfering with your nights out, you can be acknowledged promptly, especially if your peers share your concerns.
- Reinforcing the buddy programme – renewing the buddy system is essential to create close bonds between cohorts, including meeting once a term to discuss anything from lectures to CVs to workshops and spring weeks. Your buddy should be like a sibling, a good friend, a wise mentor and a key member of your network beyond your years at Imperial.
Your vote is all it takes to make it happen and change the future of everyone at the Business School for the better.
