Hi everyone! I’d love to represent our cohort and make wellbeing a bigger focus this year.
Here are some ideas I’d like to bring to 2025/2026:
- Creating a wellbeing pamphlet: A short, accessible guide detailing all support services available specifically for Biological Sciences students. This pamphlet will include key contacts, emails and relevant links to the counselling team, and our departmental wellbeing advisors + senior tutors, along with a little description of what each service entails (having used all those services myself). Digital copies will be emailed to everyone and printed versions will be in the LifeSci common room.
- More social events: Gives us students an opportunity to come together and catch up with each other since we are all doing different modules this year.
- Weekly anonymous check-ins: I’ll send out anonymous forms to see if anything affecting students’ wellbeing could be improved at a departmental level. I shall then raise these concerns to the relevant departmental reps.
- Post-graduation support: To help navigate life after graduation for anyone applying for postgraduate studies or a j*b (I’m stressed about that too!)
After a tough second year, I’ve experienced firsthand how much university support and especially good friends/coursemates can help. Now that I’m in a better place, I’d love to give back and help anyone who might be struggling. Even if I’m not elected, please still reach out to me if you just want someone to talk to! We can grab a cup of coffee and chat!
