Medicine (UG): Phase 1a Wellbeing Representative

Hi! I'm YuNing, and I'm running to be your First Year Wellbeing Representative!

Starting university is a huge transition, like buying a bunch of bananas at the start of the week. You have great plans for them, but as life gets busier, they’re easy to forget. For many of us, it’s the first time away from our usual support systems. Which can be exciting, but also overwhelming as we navigate our new homes and the responsibilities of adult life. Add to that the challenges and stress of studying medicine, and it’s clear that wellbeing isn’t just important. It’s essential.

If elected, I’ll make it my priority to ensure everyone feels supported, seen, and heard. No matter how lost you might feel, you’ll always know there’s someone in your corner. One way I plan to do this is to introduce more medical family activities to foster a stronger relationship between freshers and seniors. I recognise the privilege of representing your wellbeing and championing for issues close to your heart, and thus promise to do so with both pride and commitment.

Wellbeing should be a constant throughout your time at Imperial, and not something you only reach for when everything else feels out of reach. Like a banana at the bottom of your bag, if you forget about your wellbeing, it'll turn brown and mushy. So let’s keep our bunch together, look out for one another, and make sure everyone has the chance to ripen into the best versions of ourselves.
