Materials (UG): Year One Wellbeing Representative

Hey, I am Ahmet. You might have seen or heard me clacking around the department with two blue crutches. Just so you know a bit more about me, I am ethnically Turkish but have lived in the UK for around 8 years and have weirdly completed a year of study at the University of Bristol before transferring to Imperial.

I am aware that, for the vast majority of students, their well-being is closely interlinked with their health; this would be the main policy I focus on if elected. As someone who has faced both physical and mental health challenges, I can closely relate to the problems you face in your daily lives. I will firstly work to make our facilities more accessible for everyone; some examples include adapting resources for students with visual or auditory impairments and advocating for automatic and/or wheelchair-accessible entrances for all spaces. These are just a few examples I could come up with, but my work will be directed purely by your requests and specific needs. Please let me know!

I am also passionate about creating a more inclusive community. As someone who moved to the UK, I understand the importance of social integration and will work to bridge any gaps between home and international students. My goal is to foster a cohesive departmental culture where diversity is celebrated and no one feels isolated. I am ready to be an empathetic and effective advocate for our year.
