Emilia Hatheyer
Hi everyone!
I'm Emilia Hatheyer, and I'd love to be your Year One Wellbeing Representative for Biological Sciences! π©π¬
I'm originally from Austria, but I've lived near Frankfurt, Germany, before coming to London. My mother tongue is German, so English is my second language, and I know how stressful it can be to study, make friends, or even just speak up in a different language. Starting in a new country and at a new university can feel overwhelming (especially at first!), and I want to be someone you can turn to who truly understands. πβοΈ
I aim to make you feel supported outside of academics. My enjoyment in listening to others and offering advice has guided me in my role as a school representative and through volunteering in an orphanage and tutoring younger students. Additionally, I led a sexual education workshop, where I learned to approach sensitive topics with respect and strengthened my organisation skills - both of which I hope to bring to this role.
As your Wellbeing Rep, I'd set up an anonymous feedback system (a digital and physical “Wellbeing box”) so no concern is too small to share - whether it's about mental health, personal safety, social adjustment, financial worries, or something else. I'd promote the university's wellbeing resources and organise coffee catch-ups βοΈ, where we can discuss worries or stresses and I'll make sure they're adressed by the department!
Let's look out for each other, raise awareness for wellbeing, and survive the first year together!! βΊοΈ
