Chemistry (UG): Year Two Wellbeing Representative

Hi, I'm Oakley (They/He/It)! I am running for Wellbeing Rep to help improve accessibility, support and, most importantly, socials in chemistry. I am disabled myself and have a large breadth of knowledge surrounding accessing support and the extent of accessibility in chemistry. I have also been a part of the charity Mermaids (a charity helping Trans+ youth) and have received training in advocacy and mentoring, both of which I will action within this role. I am also part of the youth advisory panel in Mermaids, which has given me broad experience with delineating the needs and wants of the people I represent to senior individuals (e.g. CEO, board members, etc.). I will use this experience of advocating to senior individuals to best support you and the wider cohort! I hope to be able to improve the accessibility of labs for individuals with sensory difficulties (and hopefully the wider chemistry population), improve knowledge of how to access support and work for my cohort by listening to as well as enacting what is needed.
