Catherine James
Hi, I’m Catherine, and I’m honoured to stand for an Undergraduate Medical seat on Imperial's Council.
I feel so deeply grateful to be part of the wonderful community within Imperial College Medical School, and I would absolutely love to listen, represent, and serve. My aim would be simple- to make sure every medical student feels supported, valued, and able to thrive within Imperial.
If elected, I would love to focus on three key areas:
-
Better communication and transparency- advocating for clearer, more consistent feedback and assessment guidance, so students always know where they stand and how to improve.
-
Collaboration and innovation- building bridges between medicine, engineering, and business, and promoting research and exchange opportunities that help us grow as future leaders in the changing landscape of healthcare.
-
Inclusion and wellbeing- ensuring that every voice is heard and respected, and that the council prioritises diversity, mental health, and a genuine sense of belonging.
As Imperial’s current BMA representative, I have the privilege of sitting on the Medical Students Committee and the London Regional Council, working with students and healthcare professionals from across the UK to discuss national policy and drive positive change. I would love to bring these insights back to empower our own medical school community.
I don’t claim to have all the answers, but I do promise to listen carefully, work collaboratively, and act with integrity. Together, we can strengthen our community and help ICSM continue to lead at Imperial, nationally and globally, with compassion, excellence, and purpose.
