Vishal Vijay Kumar
Hi everyone,
My name is Vishal and I am a fourth year medical student. I am running to be your council representative on a platform to advocate for the rapid & transformative change you want.
My three central commitments are:
1. Academic Advocacy & Assessment Fairness
The Medical School curriculum is rigorous, but our assessment processes must be clearly communicated. As part of this I will strive to
-
Improve Feedback Loops: Lobby the faculty to standardize and increase the quality of formative feedback, ensuring students understand why they received a certain mark and how to improve, particularly in clinical settings like OSCE mock feedback that can vary widely.
-
Placement Quality Assurance: Work with the Union and Faculty to establish a clearer mechanism for reporting sub-par placement experiences or inadequate teaching, ensuring that all clinical sites meet the expected educational standards.
-
Test & Mock results: Advocate for timely release of EFA/progress test and mock results instead of waiting months
2. Enhancing Welfare and Mental Health Infrastructure
- Improved Study Facilities and Wellbeing Events: Secure Union funding and College commitment for extended, reliable access to study spaces and libraries across all campuses and resources like coffee/tea, short mindfulness sessions during exam seasons.
-
Reduce Isolation: Implement structures within the Union Council to ensure welfare initiatives reach students on distant placements
3. Financial Burden and Facilities Improvement
-
Fair Travel Subsidy: Lobby the College to implement a means-tested reimbursement process for placement travel without sacrificing our iPads.
I hope you consider voting for me.
