Materials (PG): PGT Departmental Representative

It is beyond doubt that Imperial College is a culturally diverse university. People from different countries bring their own values, lifestyles, and ways of thinking. While our intensive studies push us forward, these differences can sometimes make people feel further apart.

I am devoted to being a bridge — between the department and students, and among students themselves — helping everyone feel part of the Materials community. When someone struggles with their studies or personal life, I want them to know they can easily find help through me or from others in our community. I believe this sense of support builds confidence — the confidence to overcome challenges together.

Moreover, life at Imperial is about more than just studying. It is equally important to value friendship and happiness. When I was a freshman, I studied alone in a new city. Before I met my friends and discovered hobbies to enjoy in my free time, I found it hard to concentrate and even lost my passion for university life. It was friendship and shared interests that restored my motivation and confidence, and I hope to use my experience to help others find the same sense of belonging.

My name is Wen Wen, you can call me William.
