Benshuai Tan

Hey everyone!

I’m Benshuai, and I’m running to be your Materials PGT Rep.

A bit of background: I was born in China, but moved to London when I was nine, so I’d like to consider myself as a bridge between the cultures! Our cohort has a mix of people from different countries, but I’d really like to help make sure everyone feels included and comfortable during our shared time here.

Before coming to Imperial, I was also an Academic Rep during the final year of my undergrad, where I worked with staff to make real changes based on student feedback. I also mentored first year students, helping them settle in a new environment – something I’d love to continue doing here to help everyone feel at home in London.

If elected, I’ll do my best make sure your concerns are heard, academic or otherwise. I would also like to build a stronger community within our cohort, maybe through socials or study meetups that make it easier for us to connect outside of lectures.

I’m always happy to chat, so catch me if you see me around, or shoot me a message/email whenever if you have any issues. We’re only here for a short while, but I want to help make it a rewarding and enjoyable experience for all of us!
