Postgraduate Taught Academic & Welfare Officer (Medicine)

Hi, I am Alice and I would like to be your PGT Academic & Welfare Officer. I would aim to make sure students feel their voice is heard and their opinions are listened to in order to bring about positive change that benefits everyone.

At my previous university:

  • I was an elected course representative for 4 years.
  • I was elected Chair for 2 years of the Undergraduate Student Staff Liaison Committee for my department. I chaired SSLC meetings and supported SSLC student course representatives.
  • As UG SSLC Chair I was the UG student representing my department’s UG student cohort in teaching management committees and teaching strategy meetings, giving student feedback, providing student opinion and successfully advocating for positive changes.
  • I also worked with my previous university’s Student Union as an elected President of a Dance Society there, building relationships with them, society members and other societies.

From this I understand how important it is to have a representative who is:

  • Willing to listen
  • Inclusive
  • Reliable
  • Open minded
  • Enthusiastic about the role
  • Keeps confidentiality

and I would aim to be all of these if I were elected.

Some aims:

  • Open feedback - Implement continuously open feedback forms and/or termly feedback stalls for students' input
  • Transparency - Students updated about what has been discussed at meetings
  • Welfare focused - Ensure welfare support is accessible to students
  • Community - Opportunities for PGT students to suggest and potentially run events to help network

Thank you for reading and I hope you feel you can vote for me.
