Biochemistry (UG): Year One Academic Representative

Starting academics at Imperial as a fresher can feel overwhelming. However, being a fellow fresher myself, we are all in this together! :)

I genuinely believe that our Year 1 academic journey should be an interactive dialogue between students and faculty—not a one-way monologue.

To meet the challenges ahead, effective representation should facilitate ongoing conversations that support our academic well-being. Your efforts to adapt to each module’s teaching pace, your concerns about assessment criteria, and your drive to go beyond lecture materials—all deserve to be heard and addressed.

I believe that proactiveness and determination is the essence of being a responsible academic representative. Thus, to ensure your voices are captured and transformed into meaningful action, I will:
• Establish an open, yet anonymous, online form to collect academic concerns and positive feedback
• Synthesize your responses into fact-based proposals that accurately reflect the student voice in committee meetings
• Follow up on every conversation until a fair outcome is reached

Why do I believe I’m ready to take on this role?

As a leader who brought together fellow biologists in our high school’s iGEM team — earning medals for four consecutive years — and as the director of a year-long theatre production involving over 70 cast members, I’ve learned how to listen, collaborate, and lead with purpose. Most importantly, as a fellow member of Imperial’s fresher cohort, I am both willing and prepared to represent your voices — and help build a more connected, supported, and fulfilling academic year for all of us.
