Vasily Vanifatov
Hey everyone, I’m Vasily, and I want to represent your academic interests this year.
Transitioning from a hands-on school environment to Imperial’s independent learning style can be tough. Even something as small as submitting that Health & Safety receipt showed just how much room there is for improvement in how our course runs. I want to make your experience more enjoyable, engaging, and smooth-running.
As first-years, we don't have the strongest say in how things run — but that doesn’t mean we can’t change that! If elected, I will commit to improving our Biochemistry/Biotechnology experience by:
- Running regular, optional feedback forms and in-person sessions (with BiochemSoc leaders) to ensure everyone’s opinion is heard.
- Maintaining direct and consistent contact with lecturers, upper years, and the Education Office to ensure concerns aren’t just noted but acted on — I’ll happily email lecturers and address any issues directly.
- Providing a shared OneDrive full of lecture notes, past papers, textbooks, and flashcards so we can compile resources and propel each other towards success.
- Pushing for optional Chemical Kitchen sessions — if chemists and biomedical scientists get them, we should too.
I’ve already spoken with BiochemSoc’s leadership and last year’s academic representative, so I have a clear picture of what works, what doesn’t, and where we can make real improvements.
I want to be someone you can come to with any issue, big or small. You tell me the problem — I’ll take it to the people who can fix it. Simple as that.
