Serra Yenilmez

Hi everyone! I am Serra, a second year Biological Sciences student. I would love the chance to be your Year Two Academic Representative. Over the past year, I have seen how much effort and resilience everyone puts into this course, but also how stressful it can be to balance coursework, deadlines, and thinking about what comes next.

While being in the stressful process of finding an internship again this year, I often look back at my last year self, who was also struggling through the same uncertainty. I was fortunate to secure a place in a leading pharmaceutical company back then, and that experience keeps me motivated now. With this motivation, I want to inspire both myself and all of you to stay positive and confident through this year’s challenging period.

I am genuinely interested in leading a startup in the future, and I have led many projects that have given me the confidence to apply for this role. I am also part of a program where I get to watch and analyse many startup pitches, and I hope to share the insights, ideas and oppurtunetes I gain with you as well.

Now, I want to use these skills to continue career focused events with other societies, and bridge biology and business through discussions on biotech startups and innovation. I am always open to listening to any worries or concerns you might have and will do my best to represent them with care and honesty.
