People often say "We are all on the same boat" but this phrase does not apply to our situation. I know a lot of people who are worried about how to balance sports activities with lectures, who just want to practice their musical instrument after the lecture, who are struggling with living in a complete foreign country, and who are just sad that they did not get a South-Ken accommodation (like me). We do have one thing in common though, and it is our shared struggle: one of the hardest degrees, the Chemical Engineering course.
In short, although we are in the same department, we all have different lives: and I want to be a remedy for all your academic troubles this year.
I was the student president of my high school back in Istanbul; and with my experience I think I will do a good job being a bridge between the academic staff and us, the students of the best course in Imperial, to help each one of you to overcome the problems that we share. I am available 24/7 and you can message me anytime informally.
As the academic rep, I plan to organize peer-led study groups before major assessments, send regular updates summarizing key announcements/ deadlines, and being close with academic staff to communicate your problems in a timely and precise manner. We may not all be on the same boat, but as your Year Rep, I’ll make sure every boat sails smoothly.
