Ian Hao Seng

Hello! I am Ian, and I hope to be your year 1 academic representative. Through this position I hope to be a bridge between us, the first years, and the department, ensuring effective and empathetic communication. I understand that our course is difficult, and I hope to make this year both smooth-sailing and fun for all of us.

Inside the classroom, I will ensure that our resources are frequently updated and we as students have a full range of resources to use, as well as making sure that lectures and slides are promptly uploaded. As for peer support, I hope to organize more study and peer coaching sessions, where we can collaborate to work on problems so that we all can succeed together. I will also address timetable and deadline issues, coursework expectations, and scheduling issues to ensure that we are not overloaded and have time to pursue other facets of university life outside our course. I will be a clear voice that speaks for the fairness and excellence of our education.

Outside the classroom, I hope to work with other societies to organize more social events to broaden our connections beyond chemical engineering. This includes joint socials with other majors and faculty hangouts where we can interact with seniors and forge friendships outside of our year group.

I hope to create a positive environment for all of us to grow as individuals. To make the most out of our time here, we should work hard and play harder!
