Hi everyone :)
Medicine is a lot. I think everyone struggles with our course at some point. I'd like to be someone whom everyone feels comfortable going to if they want to share anything they’re unhappy (or happy!) about. That’s why I’m running for rep!
(I'm also here if you want to gush about cool science/clinical stuff. I will be fascinated even if I don’t always understand 🤩)
I want to:
- Make expressing the need for change easier. Mega love to SSLGs even though they are long <3 Sufficient evidence of student views is needed for faculty action and I want to explore alternative ways of doing this.
- Improve communication around SSLGs and faculty action. Mega love to our 1a reps - I think they did a fab job, especially with the POM wifi issues (thank you <33). I'd continue their work and give regular updates/opps for feedback so everyone knows what’s going on! (without spamming ofc. 😎)
- Spotlight clinical skills. Most people do not love CAS sessions. With the CPA becoming weighted into our overall 1b marks, and clinical skills being super important for 3rd year+, I’d really like to action views on this, especially as faculty has said that they’ve recently made changes to CAS 👀 :)
I’ve been a mock CPA patient for Arts societies (highly recommend) and did a research project over summer about usefully adding elements to curricula: I will leverage these experiences to be an effective voice for us second years :)
