As we all know, Imperial is renowned for its demanding academic workload, a reality to which our daily 9 AM lectures have introduced to us all. However, if elected Academic Representative, I would work my hardest to minimise the stress and create an environment which would foster the highest level of achievement.
I would do this through 3 key policies,
1) Establishing open and clear lines of communication. I will set aside a time to discuss academic issues (Most likely a monthly in-person drop-in session on a Wednesday after class for direct conversations) with me personally, and I will also implement a channel to raise concerns anonymously.
2) To save everyone time and effort, I will publish a single, shared calendar of all important dates. This will replace the need to hunt through the student handbook or create your own schedule. I'll keep it updated by working with our professors and use the overview to push for a more evenly spread workload.
3) Lastly I will improve communications between students and professors. This will be done through working with the department to create a simple and annoynmousnway to ask questions and raise concerns about lectures. This ensures that anyone who is feeling lost or hesitant to speak up can get the clarification they need
Thank you for reading my short manifesto and I hope the points I have listed above have convinced you to entrust me with your vote.
