Adam Perkins

I am excited to stand for the position of AI Researcher for the AI Society. Currently, I am pursuing an MSc in Machine Learning and Data Science within the Mathematics Department, complementing my professional role as a Data Scientist at the Bank of England. My academic and professional experience equips me with a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and real-world application, particularly in the intersection of AI, Economics, and Finance.

My professional research focuses on applying advanced AI techniques to answer complex questions at the heart of economics. A recent project of mine explores how short rates, options, and sentiment analysis can predict interest rate expectations in response to macroeconomic shocks. This professional experience alongside my academic expertise uniquely places me to be successful in this position.

As an AI Researcher for the Society, I will endeavour to support initiatives that encourage collaboration between diverse fields. I aim to bridge the gap between AI theory and practical implementation, particularly in emerging domains like AI-driven economic modeling. I have also undergone other passion projects outside of work and school including building a film recommendation engine.

I would excited to get this position because of the collabaritive oppurtunities it presents and would be keen to orangise social events with other society members should I get the role.

I am eager to bring my experience, spirit and to drive innovation in the soceity (as well as have a good time and meet new people).
