Riyaaz Khan
My name is Riyaaz Khan. I'm a second-year maths student passionate about AI. In my spare time, I have delved into data science, machine learning, neural networks, LLMs, and AI. Although these mathematical concepts may seem difficult, I believe any Imperial student can gain a deep understanding of them in a short time. Furthermore, without knowledge of these concepts, you can easily apply AI to solve real-world problems, such as fine-tuning LLMs. Through participating in hackathons, I have witnessed the significant impact one can make in a short time, and I hope to translate this knowledge into practical applications.
In the year, my aims would be to:
- Keep members updated and aware of updates in AI.
- Help increase membership from 630 to 750.
- Help communicate and organise at least two events with the data science Society.
- Get involved with creating at least three hackathon events.
- Get a networking event with at least 3 AI-specific companies.
- Get one imperial team involved in a large startup.
Additionally, I believe the talents of Imperial students could be better leveraged. Currently, many students do not recognise the potential they possess for creating startups and other ventures, particularly with the rise of AI. I aim to assist students in gaining experience through hackathons and other networking events, connecting them with individuals who could help them in launching a business that could potentially be worth thousands of pounds. Thank you for reading my manifesto. I hope to bring about positive change in the AI society.
