Finance: Vice President - Co-head of Global Markets

Hi! I’m Carmen, a second-year Maths student aspiring to be your Vice President – Co-Head of Global Markets for the coming year.

Having navigated the application process for both spring weeks and summer internships, I know firsthand the immense value of panel events, networking opportunities, and mentorship from older students and alumni. The career insights and recruitment advice I gained through these experiences were instrumental in helping me secure multiple summer internship offers from bulge bracket firms in Sales & Trading, ultimately leading me to accept an offer from Goldman Sachs for their Global Markets internship this summer.

Through my experience interviewing at numerous firms on both the Sell Side and Buy Side, I have built strong connections with industry professionals in Global Markets. I will leverage these relationships to bring exclusive career panels, workshops, and networking opportunities to Finance Society members.

Moreover, I believe that tapping into our network of Imperial students is essential in helping members secure competitive internships and graduate roles in Global Markets. My goal is to streamline communication channels with experienced students who have successfully navigated the recruitment process, creating structured mentorship opportunities to strengthen applications.

Recognising the crucial role of market awareness in the application process-and the challenges STEM students may face in this area—I plan to introduce monthly sessions where members can present and discuss current affairs, analysing their impact on various markets and asset classes.

Thank you!
