Hi BMB! I'm Charlie, a second year student, and I'm excited to run for the Academic Events and Opportunities Officer role.

We all know it's daunting to think about the dreaded internships, jobs, and your future, but it's always best to do sooner rather than later. As some of us may know, there has generally been a lack of academic events tailored to our course over the years. Although this has changed slightly recently, I want to expand on this to help everyone on the course to support you with your future career aspirations or curiosities :)

Why Vote for Me?

Engaging Academic Events – I will help organise career panels, career fairs, and talks from researchers, industry, and BMB students and alumni to connect with these groups and provide insight into potential career paths and opportunities, whether it be academia, industry, or something unrelated to research.

• Here, you will have the opportunity to connect with these groups for potential future involvement.
• I will also organise workshops with other students on writing applications, emails, CVs, etc for internships, jobs, PhDs

Stronger Student Involvement – I will listen to you and take on your feedback and suggestions so that our academic events align with what you want and what you need.

Better Communication – I will gather information on available internships and opportunities to be shared with you on a regular basis.
