Prachur Khandelwal

Hello, my name is Prachur Khandelwal, and I am honored to present my candidacy for the position of Research Officer in the Orthopaedics Society. Having previously struggled with finding research by myself, I understand the beneficial role guidance and society-run networking events can play. With a passion for advancing knowledge and fostering an environment of intellectual curiosity, I am committed to strengthening our research community.

If elected, I will prioritize the following:

• Developing more research poster/essay competitions in collaboration with other institutions and university societies. This would help introduce eager ICSM students into orthopaedic research, and the outputs of these events could be repurposed to enter other competitions.
• Reaching out to researchers to set up a mentorship scheme with research projects that members could apply to.
• Hosting events with a focus on how to make the most of your placement and how to get opportunities to build your portfolio. For instance, a workshop on working on QI projects (especially more important with the competitive ortho specialty application ratios).
• Workshops on how to seize research opportunities and approach surgeons you are interested in working with.

I am committed to making research more impactful, inclusive, and accessible for all of our society members, whether they have already committed to the field or are curious about trying it out. With your support, we can strengthen the support this society provides you and your future aspirations.
