Areeba Lalani
Hi! I am Areeba Lalani, a second-year Biological Sciences student from Bahrain. I am excited to apply for the Conference Lead position at the ICSM Immunology Society. With experience organising large-scale academic events and being on the logistics team for this year's conference, I aim to curate a conference that fosters collaboration and innovation.
Building on this year’s “Future of Immunology” theme, I want to expand the conversation by highlighting how AI-driven immune modeling, bioengineered cell therapies, and synthetic biology innovations transform immunology research and clinical applications. To this end, I will organise keynote panels with leading researchers, research spotlight sessions, and hands-on AI workshops, ensuring a dynamic and engaging experience for students.
As Director General of CHRISMUN 2023, I organised a Model UN conference for 35 teams, managing logistics, partnerships, and high-profile speakers. Additionally, as Director of the St. Christopher’s Charity Debate 2022, I led an initiative that raised $4,500 for the Dreams Society in Bahrain, demonstrating my ability to execute impactful events.
To expand the conference beyond knowledge, I will secure biotech sponsorships and a career panel on computational immunology and biotech entrepreneurship to develop industry partnerships to show careers in non-traditional immunology pathways. Collaborating with Imperial’s AI and bioengineering societies, I aim to foster interdisciplinary discussions on immunology’s evolving role in technology and healthcare.
With my leadership, event management, and science communication skills, I will ensure a high-impact conference that inspires future immunologists, expands career opportunities, and showcases the transformative potential of immunology and technology.
