I am excited to apply for the role of Conference Chair as I am passionate about respiratory medicine and eager to take on a larger role within the society. Having been part of both the Paediatrics and GP Conference Subcommittees and attended multiple conferences, I understand the logistics behind organising a successful event. I also recognise the importance of seeking guidance from previous Conference Chairs and current Presidents to ensure a well-executed conference.
My goal is to cater to all levels, from early-year students to clinical years, and even extend the conference to sixth formers, as seen in the Paediatrics Conference, to inspire future medical students. To increase engagement, I plan to introduce interactive case-based workshops, such as an escape room-style session and Q&A panels, as well as surgical workshops, which tend to be popular among students.
To ensure accessibility, all talks will be available virtually, and I hope to collaborate with other universities to expand the conference’s reach. Additionally, I will gather student feedback in advance to tailor the content to what they most want to learn.
With my leadership experience as Head of a Tamil Society Subcommittee, I am confident in my ability to coordinate teams and manage logistics effectively. I understand that Conference Chair is a significant role, but with my passion, commitment, and determination, I am eager to take on this challenge and deliver an engaging and inspiring event.
