Mahathi Varma

Hey everyone! I’m Mahathi, a third-year medic. I’m excited to run for Vice Chair, building on my experience as RAG’s Secretary over the past year.

From this, I gained valuable insight into organising impactful and varied events that engage the entire ICSM community. I developed a deep appreciation for the importance of selecting charities that resonate with medical students, ensuring we raise as much as possible for meaningful causes. I also worked closely with Union, discussing logistics and improving event coordination. These experiences have equipped me with the skills to build on and expand our events even further this year.

I learned the importance of time management and delegation, ensuring events ran smoothly by creating rotas that played to people’s strengths and preferences. As Vice Chair, I will work closely with the Chair to continue fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, where every committee member feels valued and confident in their role.

One of my aims this year is to collaborate with other university RAGs, including a potential joint fundraiser with IC RAG, working alongside the Chair to expand our impact and outreach. Creating inter-uni events and volunteering initiatives would be a great way to increase engagement, share resources, and raise even more money for our charities. I am committed to creating another amazing year of fundraising for RAG, and would love to do this as Vice Chair!
