Sudharshan Palaniappa
Hi everyone! My name is Sudharshan and I’m a third-year medical student who is excited to be running for the position of Outreach Officer in Respiratory Society.
Over the years, I’ve developed a passion for respiratory medicine, and I believe it’s crucial to engage students with the field early to spark their interest. If elected, I want to build on the society’s impact by improving outreach efforts, ensuring more students have access to the opportunities and resources to explore respiratory medicine.
I’ve gained valuable experience that will help me succeed in this role. As National Conference Lead in SORA, I managed large-scale events and collaborated with experts to bring together diverse perspectives. This experience honed my organizational, communication, and networking skills, which I believe are essential for promoting events and opportunities effectively. In addition, my role as Vice-President (Events) of FoMSF gave me practical experience in student engagement, while my time during mandatory military service enhanced my adaptability, resilience, and leadership skills.
If elected as Outreach Officer, my priorities will include:
- Expanding the society’s reach by connecting with medical students across different years and encouraging their involvement in respiratory medicine through workshops, seminars, and guest speaker events
- Strengthening partnerships with other societies, both within and outside of medicine, to create interdisciplinary opportunities for students
- Promoting awareness of respiratory health and research opportunities to inspire the next generation of medical professionals
I look forward to bringing my skills and passion for respiratory medicine to this role!
