Respiratory Medicine: Events Officer

Hey everyone,

I’m Raghul, and I am excited to be running for Events Officer of Imperial’s Respiratory Medicine Society. As a current Oncology Society subcommittee representative, I’ve organised renowned clinicians to present at the Surgical Talk series, liaised with speakers for our national surgical conference and moderated the Society’s IMT-led lecture series for preclinical students.

Advertising workshops for the National University Respiratory Conference and helping to run the International OesophagoGastric Cancer Conference has taught me what makes an event engaging. Co-founding Imperial Polygeia, a global health think tank, has honed my skills in innovating opportunities for aspiring students.

Chairing my school’s Medical Society gives me a profound appreciation for social interactivity, which I aim to incorporate into Society’s future events; as MedEd’s Phase 1B lecturer, I acknowledge the vital role mentors play in shaping students’ aspirations, so a monumental emphasis will be placed on building these connections to enrich our members’ Society experience.

As your Events Officer, I aim to:

  • Initiate research-based networking opportunities and careers panels to connect ardent students with pioneering pulmonologists.
  • Facilitate interactive workshops on airway trauma management and shed light on interventional procedures.
  • Conduct a cohesive lecture series covering core pre-clinical respiratory medicine content for phase 1.

My vision for this Society is to work with our committee to produce enriching events that leave our members thoroughly fulfilled with such exciting, valuable opportunities. Vote for me as I believe my skill-set prepares me to establish a lasting impact on Imperial’s Respiratory Medicine Society. Thank you!
