Nilani Nithiyananthan

Hi! My name is Nilani, and I would love to be your publicity officer at ICSM's respiratory society.

With a keen interest in respiratory medicine, I have previously had the privilege of serving the society by creating the event booklet as part of the publicity subcommittee for the National Undergraduate Respiratory Conference 2025. This experience has given me a solid foundation in promoting events and engaging audiences effectively.

Furthermore, I have previously held various roles in other societies, including secretary, treasurer, sponsorship officer, and liaison officer. These experiences have strengthened my ability to collaborate within teams, communicate effectively and support others in different roles within the committee if required. Moreover, having completed respiratory medicine placements, I am familiar with the field and recognise the need to raise awareness about medical advancements within respiratory medicine and promote accessible learning opportunities for students.

My key goals:

• Launch an Instagram page and Linktree for the society to promote events, conferences and resources, making them more accessible to students
• Increase the use of our LinkedIn account to engage with professionals within the specialty and broaden our initiatives to a wider audience
• Leverage Whatsapp group chats and the ICSMSU newsletter to regularly update students on upcoming activities

With my proficiency in graphic design software such as Canva, I can produce visually appealing promotional materials to ensure that the society's activities are accessible, engaging and well-publicised for all.
