Anika Sharma

Hi, I’m Anika, a first year medic. Having attended many events run by Hindu society so far this year, I’ve managed to form such strong relationships within this community. I’ve come to understand what makes a good event, and would like to build on this as your future events officer. I particularly enjoyed the Mastani Ball and wish to bring even bigger events to Hindu society!

I have previous experience in helping with events for my school’s multicultural society. I helped organise an amazing fashion show and took part in a Bollywood dance which allowed me to form many new connections, and I would like to bring this spirit to Hindu society. I’ve also volunteered at my local mandir to help organise vibrant Holi events, which has given me experience in organisation and planning.

These are some ideas I have for future events:

• Cultural fashion show - an opportunity for everyone to appreciate clothing from different regions of India
• Increased celebration of a diverse range of festivals such as Durga Puja and Ganesh Chaturthi
• Hindu society dinner in collaboration with other unis - a chance to try a variety of Indian cuisines!

Overall, I am an approachable, responsible and positive person who is willing to understand what you want from Hindu society events - in regards to food, music and so much more. I would be so grateful for your vote so I can help continue running these events and hopefully make them as enjoyable for others as they were for me.
