Rhea Ponugubati
Hey, I’m Rhea and I’m running for Chair of HaemSoc! Some might say I have a bleeding passion for this role, and I’m here to prove it.
Haematology first caught my eye during the POM module (one of its only saving graces, if we’re honest). My interest grew during my haematology placement, where I saw firsthand the impact of this specialty on patient care. Now, I want to bring that same excitement to HaemSoc - before it gets a little anaemic.
While I'm new to HaemSoc, I’ve led tutoring and mentoring initiatives, including “Get into Medicine” interview workshops and delivering teaching on behalf of the RI. Public speaking and teaching have strengthened my ability to communicate effectively—perfect for chairing a society and engaging members.
To support HaemSoc, I will:
-
Publicise the society with strong social media presence.
-
Organize revision tutorials for POM, clinical case discussions, and guest lectures.
-
Collaborate with other societies for joint events (because we all need a bit of cross-matching).
-
Set up shadowing opportunities and practical workshops.
-
Partner with NHS Blood & Transplant to promote blood donation and charity work.
With your support, I will ensure HaemSoc is stronger than ever! I may be O- but HaemSoc will be A+ :)
