Hi Everyone! My name is Asaavari. I’m standing to be one of your Chairs next year, and couldn’t be more excited to jump into action! Alongside fabulous Lucine, I aim to transform FemTech into an inclusive and safe space for women in STEM, giving them a platform to have discussions, debates and make discoveries.
As a first year biomed student and a HUGE advocate for all things female, I’m driven by a passion to improve the female experience through health-tech. I got a front row seat to the amazing work that the committee does as a member of the events subcommittee this year, and also got the opportunity to view the FemTech behind-the-scenes.
Some of my goals are:
- Planning collaborations with other societies and FemTechs at other universities.
- Introducing debates and discussion forums for your great ideas to be shared and developed.
- Organising socials that bring us together like speech viewings, field trips and FemTech themed dinners!
Back in 2020, I founded an organisation called The Jagriti Program and have been able to interact with over 700 underprivileged girls and boys, teaching them about sex ed and healthcare, and raised approximately £5000 to vaccinate girls for HPV. Essentially, as co-chair, I will be able to draw upon the experience of planning, liaising, executing and persevering that I have gained over the last 5 years.
The future of tech is truly female and I’m counting on you to allow me to become a part of each of your FemTech journeys.
