I suppose I should start with a “Hello I’m Kyleen, a third year medical student from Imperial, may I confirm your name and date of birth?” to remind us of the superior 1% of the club. With a career high of 1 La Vache, 5 balls into the backyard of our fellow residents of Carbery Avenue, 10 double faults in a game, 100 just a bit long, bit wide, bit short serves and 1000 moon balls, I’m proud to announce my campaign for Ladies 2s Captain.
In case you can’t tell, I only started learning how to whack these fury yellow balls last summer and being thrown in the deep end was life-changing. I learnt a lot about resilience, peserverenace (?) and grit and I am certain all these #softskills prepare me well to inspire the currently non-existent Ladies’ squad to improve their game on (and off) the court.
I spend my mornings convincing myself I’ve come a long way since summer. I spend my afternoons reminiscing over the last time I played tennis and counting down the milliseconds till I next play tennis. I spend my (Wednesday) evenings dreaming of hitting a one-handed backhand while I hit everyone around the table with backhanded comments. TLDR; I love tennis.
Plan:
- Book >1 court on match day
- Encourage more small talk between social tennis and anti-social tennis players
- Ask ChatGPT to write match reports after each match, run it by DeepSeek and post it on Instagram
- Not hit head with racket
