Hi, I’m Henry: the current ICSC commodore. As commodore - and treasurer before that - I have experienced the constant battle between keeping our boats sailable and keeping our accounts in the green. On top of that we aim to continue making sailing as accessible as possible for all our sailors with subsidies and expanded social sailing offerings. For both of these goals we need to get sponsorship and alumni donations - we cannot continue to rely on grant alone.

I have longstanding relationships with a number of suppliers including The Fibreglass Shop, Ksail, Rondar and Ovington. It is my intention that through the next year we will consolidate many of these existing relationships and forge new ones into contractual sponsorships involving both direct investment to the club and the provision of free or discounted equipment.

As one of the longest running committee members and having organised Castaways Christmas I am in an excellent position to revamp our alumni network. I aim to work in close partnership with the Castaways commodore; rebuilding a network which serves both clubs and alumni who wish to maintain their links to getting on the water.

Specific schemes I’d like to roll out across the year range from sponsored boat names to finding kit and event sponsors for Icicle. I think Icicle was a great success this year but has even more potential as our landmark event to be a sailing extravaganza which we can achieve by being 100% set on 24 teams from the start next year!
