Anab Aideed
Hi, my name is Anab Aideed, and I am a third year medical student hoping to become your next PHEM conference officer! My interest in PHEM has grown significantly throughout medical school, particularly through my experiences as part of the Ambulance Observer Programme. Seeing the dynamic, high-pressure nature of emergency medicine outside the hospital has reinforced my enthusiasm for the specialty and motivated me to help expand opportunities for others interested in this field.
As the Outreach Officer and current Publicity Officer for Somali Society, I have developed strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills essential for planning and executing large-scale events successfully. I have also attended multiple medical conferences, giving me insight into what makes an event impactful and successful.
If elected, I plan to:
🚑 Expand the on current PHEM talks – incorporating a wider range of talks and workshops, and networking opportunities
🚑 Introduce more hands-on workshops – allowing students to engage with real-life pre-hospital scenarios and essential skills such as airway management, trauma care, and scene assessment.
🚑 Enhance networking opportunities – by inviting a diverse panel of speakers, including paramedics, HEMS doctors, and trauma surgeons, and facilitating interactions between students and professionals.
🚑 Encourage student participation – by providing opportunities for attendees to present posters or short talks related to PHEM, fostering academic discussion and engagement.
🚑 Grow PHEM as a society – ensuring we reach more students, increase engagement, and establish PHEM as a key part of Imperial’s medical community.
