MedTech: Events Lead (Workshops & Speaker series)

Hello! I’m Zahra, a second-year medic, and I’m running for the position of Events Lead (Workshops & Speaker Series) because I’m passionate about curating high-quality events that inspire, educate, and connect Imperial students with the cutting edge of MedTech.

From AI-driven diagnostics like Butterfly iQ+ to mind-controlled prosthetic limbs, MedTech is undeniably shaping the future of healthcare. Researching and writing a 2000-word essay on brain-machine interface technology for treating macular degeneration deepened my appreciation for how seamlessly technology integrates into medicine, revolutionizing patient care. Having attended conferences led by MedTech pioneers, I recognize the invaluable opportunity workshops and speaker series offer in connecting students with industry leaders, researchers, and innovators. As Events Lead, I aim to inspire student engagement through interactive, hands-on workshops, bridging the gap between theory and real-world application.

Having led and coordinated the most successful charity event in my school’s history and organized fundraising initiatives for Breast Cancer Awareness and Islamic Relief, I have developed strong event organization and leadership skills. These experiences required strategic planning, outreach to large external organizations, and effective teamwork—skills I’ll use to ensure that events like the annual MedTech Gadget Fair are impactful and informative.

I aim to expand MedTech workshops and speaker series, securing renowned industry leaders and startup founders to share insights on medical innovation. I’ll ensure that students are not just spectators but active participants in shaping the future of healthcare innovation.

Thanks for your support, I look forward to empowering students to engage with the future of healthcare!
