Creating a family with Afro-Caribbean society has been a core part of my university experience so far, and I want ensure that ACS continues to make thsi possible for coming students in new and exciting ways. I recognise the central role that an events officer has in ACS, collaborating with other committee members to create and throw events that are innovative, entertaining and also foster a sense of family and friendship within the Afro-Caribbean community. We will be growing and cultivating an environment where freshers and existing members can thrive, learn, enjoy themselves and have a positive relationship with each other.
I intend for many of the events we hold to reflect the vibrant and diverse nature of our Afro-Caribbean community, with cultural events being held alongside the others, and also increase outreach to other societies and members of the university and beyond to showcase who we are.
Networking and educational events will also be on the radar, to continue to ensure that our people are able to access the best opportunites and know how to develop our skillset. I'd love to take advantage of the talent and bright minds we have within the community and use this to uplift each other.
Everyone's enjoyment and entertainment will be the priority and so I'll maintain I high level of interactivity and communication in all my ideas, so that we can be a dynamic society that works to suit its members. Regularity, high quality and love for culture will be top priority!
