As a sponsorship officer, my aim is to build upon the hard work of previous officers and establish connections with companies. I want to represent all members of ACS, and work closely with my fellow officer to plan funded networking events.
When it comes to career events, I hope to cater to those interested in life sciences, as although I have been fortunate enough to attend such talks at Imperial, I would love for these talks to be delivered from a Black-British perspective. My main focus will be on organising the annual careers fair. I want to make sure that the event provides deep insight, a chance to speak to representatives from industry leading firms, and of course an opportunity to network.
I believe that I am well-equipped to the role due to my work as a telethon caller this term. Speaking to alumni and raising money for Imperial Bursaries, has opened my eyes to all of the work that occurs behind the scenes to keep the College running and accessible to all. Working in this role has emboldened me to continue to establish strong relationships with potential sponsors, because I have seen first hand how initiating these conversations and establishing rapport has a huge domino effect for students at the school. It would be an honour to take on this responsibility on behalf of the Afro-Carribean society, which has been so welcoming since my arrival at Imperial in the Autumn term.
