Imesh Wijesuriya

Friends of Médecins Sans Frontières: Innovation Coordinator

Why Me?

I am currently Fundraising Officer for Infectious Diseases Society, and I am eager to utilise these skills in the role of Innovation Coordinator for Friends of Médecins Sans Frontières. Having been deeply inspired by MSF’s work, themselves, in global health, from crisis zones like Ukraine and Palestine to global humanitarian efforts, and I am committed to supporting their cause through effective financial management of this society.

I wish to drive creativity within the society by developing new initiatives, enhancing existing events, and fostering collaboration that supports MSF’s humanitarian work. I will work to ensure our society remains dynamic, delivering fresh, exciting opportunities for members to engage with global health and medical aid. I have contributed to events such as Malaria Awareness Week as part of Infectious Diseases Society, as well as having driven ideas behind the scenes, through bake sales, conferences and an event to create your own conference-ready poster, successfully engaging a wide audience in the awareness of malaria.

Objectives:

  • I will expand and refine existing initiatives e.g. Makeathon, Hackathon, and Missing Maps Event, ensuring they remain exciting, educational & impactful
  • I will increase member engagement through interactive experiences that connect members with MSF’s mission, such as simulated crisis challenges, storytelling projects & immersive workshops
  • I will continually evaluate and adapt our initiatives to ensure we respond to emerging humanitarian issues

As Innovation Coordinator, I will bring creativity, dedication & a forward-thinking approach to strengthen Friends of MSF’s ability to support life-saving humanitarian aid worldwide.
