Hi folks!
I’m Bruce Yang, a 2nd-year Mathematics student, and I’m running for Head of Diversity & Inclusivity.
This year, I had the privilege of working as an Events Subcommittee Officer. Organising events like the Bloomberg Terminal Workshop and the Christmas Fair has allowed me to meet so many humble, enthusiastic, and driven students. Helping them navigate the often-muddy waters of finance makes me love what I do.
WHY ME?
I’ve worked as a Ride Operator and flipped burgers at the UK’s easternmost theme park, as well as Front of House for a hospitality group last summer - so I’ve met a lot of people. In finance lingo, I’ve had many “summer internships” in hospitality, making sure everyone is catered for and cared for. I want to bring this same energy to this role.
MY PLAN?
Main goal: Make sure everyone gets an internship.
How? Organise more office visits - because nothing beats firsthand exposure to the industry. Connect people to more companies, including smaller firms that should not be overlooked. Launch a mentoring scheme pairing professionals and mentees with shared characteristics, creating a more personal networking experience.
