Medical Education: Early Years Coordinator

Hi, I'm Hamza, and I'm applying because of my deep passion for teaching. I've delivered numerous tutorials on medical ethics for PotMed to aspiring medical students, volunteered as an MMI interviewer on several occasions, produced and presented a psychiatry tutorial for Muslim Medics, and led a cardiac anatomy session for SurgSoc. My sustained commitment to medical education reflects my drive to support students through structured, high-quality teaching. 📚

If elected, I will:
✔️ Introduce Mock Exams for Better Preparation 📝 – Organise a BRS mock exam for second-year students, who currently do not have one provided by the university, and BRS and POM mocks closer to the time of their exams for first-year students as extra practice. First year often sees the highest number of resits, partly due to the significant transition from school to university. Providing a structured mock will help familiarise students with the exam format, reduce uncertainty, and hopefully lower the number of resits!

✔️ Launch a Resit Support Programme 👩‍🏫 – Introduce virtual drop-in revision sessions after results are released, giving students targeted help in weak areas before their resits. Additionally, offer 1-to-1 coaching with senior students to refine revision strategies, tackle problem topics, and boost confidence. Failing a resit can mean repeating the year or leaving medical school, so providing this support to students during such a stressful time in their lives could make a real difference in helping them pass.
