Surgical: Webmaster

Going to medical school can be overwhelming. You experience one of the greatest imposter syndromes, constant self-doubt, and confusion about which specialty to pick. I have experienced this firsthand, as have most of us. I have found that surgery, as a speciality that is built on technical skills. It requires a deep understanding of precision, critical thinking, collaboration, and the ability to adapt in a rapidly evolving environment.

As Surgical Webmaster, I want to make this career path clearer and more accessible for students by:

  • Building valuable skills: Offering resources that help students handle stressful situations, improve thier coordination skills, and build confidence via surgical case discussions, workshops, and skills-focused training, e.g. suturing workshops
  • Providing career guidance: Allow networking with surgeons by organising talks and workshops
  • Providing informational resources: Making surgical knowledge more accessible and clear by providing resources on surgical procedures, treatment options, and especially the latest advancements in the field.
  • Facilitating research opportunities: Offering research collaboration and finding sources that can help you initiate a research paper.

Surgery isn’t just about performing procedures; it’s about understanding the complexities of patient care, pushing the boundaries of medical research, and working with experts from various specialties.
