Hi, I’m Keya and I’ve been mostly inline roller skating since October 2024 - and it’s probably my favourite hobby till date. I think skating is one of the best ways to destress after long days at college - and as Social Sec I’ll organise a wide variety of socials throughout the year (for both ice and roller skating) so that members can connect, advise one another and share their passion for skating. In general, these will include casual socials like fortnightly pub crawls (around Hammersmith, for example) , and formals such as a SkateSoc Christmas Dinner in December and a New Years Party.

For roller, this will include organising an obstacle course across all of Hyde Park set up in the style of Monopoly - certain spots will be called ‘properties’ and if you skate fast enough, you may be the first to gain the most properties and make the most amount of money. And for ice, we'll have more figure skating performing opportunities in collaboration with KCL Wolves and regular socials in Queens itself such as bowling + skate nights.

Additionally, I think it would be great if SkateSoc also became a part of Wednesday Sports Nights at Union, to further expand our network and bring our community closer - despite the lack of overlap between the ice and roller sides of the society, events like these will provide more opportunities for us all to socialise together as one big family, unified by skating.
