Paediatrics: Play Team Chair

Akilesh and I would love to be your Playteam chairs next year. We’ve attended and loved every Playteam session this year and have many new ideas to contribute to the running of Playteam. For example, we thought a comprehensive list of toys for volunteers would make it easier for volunteers to find toys that children might be requesting. There were many times we realised we had something that we had never seen halfway into the year, for example a 3DS which would have been useful older children who often found many of the toys boring.

Our commitment to being Equipment Officers for Teddy Bear Hospital would help greatly with this, having made an itemised list for equipment. This role also improved our communication skills, having been involved in the training day and communicating with the committee for collaborations and projects as well as with a range of suppliers. We both have experience on Transplant and Vascular subcommittee, helping organise the conference scheduling, timings and media on the day. We both know we work well as a team as we have done multiple roles together in the past and have worked together all throughout our first 2 years at Imperial.

We’ve been very enthusiastic about promoting Playteam to almost everyone we can find; we genuinely cannot shut up about it which I’m sure you’ll hear from anyone we’ve spoken to recently. We look forward to getting more involved in the wonderful Paediatrics society and its community in the future.
