Amit Mallya

My name's Amit Mallya and I a currently a second year medical student. One of the many reasons I am running for this role is because I think I will be equipped with the right assets and mindset to propel gastroenterology & hepatology society to greater heights than it has been before. Gastrointestinal diseases affect millions globally. Despite their prevalence, many aspects remain misunderstood, underdiagnosed, or stigmatized. The field of gastroenterology has a profound impact on public health and offers the potential for meaningful change. Although gastroenterology can appear quite complicated and difficult to get an understanding off at times, it is one of the most significant parts of the human body and the understanding of gastroenterology is just beneficial in general. As publicity officer, I will look to positively share posts and document the instagram feed with events hosted by the society. I have had various publicity officer and social media roles in the past so this is not a foreign position for me but I will still look to embrace the challenges gastroenterology society might have and adapt accordingly.
