Hi, I'm Charlie! I'm in my first year studying Chemistry with Molecular Physics, and I'd love to be your Treasurer for the History Society. :)
Growing up on Horrible Histories, I've always had a passion for the subject, especially for the medieval and Renaissance eras. Being a part of the society this year has been a great experience: at our events, I've met such a welcoming and knowledgeable community with such an enthusiasm for history, and I've learnt so much about parts of history that I previously knew almost nothing about. However, this wouldn't have been possible without our committee members, who dedicate their time to organising and publicising these events. Next year, I want to give something back.
Being a Chemistry student, I often have a lot of free time on my hands, so I'll be able to give my all to the role of Treasurer. Despite the society's somewhat limited budget, I truly believe that I can make a difference in this role by helping to coordinate as many events as possible. As Treasurer, my main priorities will include setting up more guest talks, trips and tours, while balancing the society's finances so that we can continue to offer free membership to everyone. This is one of our standout qualities as a society, so it's important to me that I preserve this while setting up more activities for us than ever before.
