Rachel Wong
Hello every precious member of SynBIC! I am Rachel, a year 2 Molecular Bioengineering student running for the position of Vice President.
I am the current Treasurer for SynBIC, managing the society’s finances, but also helping other committees with events this year. I have gained firsthand experience in leadership, event planning, and financial management, which has equipped me with the skills and passion to shape SynBIC into a better society. NOW, I am excited to take on a greater leadership role as your next Vice President.
I will focus on three main areas: opportunities, engagement and collaboration.
- Expanding opportunities:
This year, we are following previous traditions, holding weekly seminars by professors and external organisations. However, the participation rate wasn't that satisfactory. Next year, I propose to work with industry leaders and research institutions to provide mentorship programs and career workshops, hoping to attract more members to join our events.
- Enhancing engagement:
I am sure many members view SynBIC as a more academic-focused society. This year, we are trying to break this stereotype by holding quiz & pizza social and Halloween cookie decorating. Next year, I will initiate more interactive events, including research projects and hackathons to connect members.
- Strengthening collaboration:
This year, we didn't collaborate with other societies. I aim to create joint events with other Imperial societies and external organizations to increase the visibility and impact of SynBIC.
I would be honored to serve as your Vice-President and continue making a meaningful impact. Thank you for your support!
